and then there were herons. fields proselytising storks. mushrooms abseiling up the sides of trees. the wind shifting inter-dimensionally from oak to squirrel. my eyes are grass. my mouth a reed instrument blown by a miraculous fleeting. a message delivered by a dark green god. outside it seems the whole world is a poem. we travelled to Drenthe in the east of The Netherlands, lush and full of oaks lime and soft and looking like broccoli, firs that left their fragrance long after we left. beech giants and rows of birches fat and blackening. our little house was tucked inside the trees and everywhere we looked was green. returning, i am carrying the hope and the rest in a little suede pouch by my heart. i am singing more, smiling more.

and our little magazine is a feast of activity right now, new members and a submission window BIOPHILIA arriving shortly, June 1 to be precise.

and for a long while in my professional life all I gave were concerts and workshops, these days it is quieter so it has been a thrill to lean back into holding a space open for the remembering of our deep ties with nature and all the writing and purpose can come from that.
